How to tell if a Rolex real

How to tell if a Rolex real

There are many fake Rolex watches out there. It is becoming more and more common to see such watches in the market. Some are made in good quality and almost impossible to tell. There are others that are made of poor quality and it is very obvious that they are fake.

So how can you tell if a Rolex is real or fake? In this blog, we will discuss the different methods of checking Rolex watches and how you can determine if the watch is real or not.

1. What is the history of Rolex?

The history of Rolex began in 1905 when Hans Wilsdorf registered his company trademark. The company began producing wristwatches for the British Military during the conflict. After WWI the company began to take off, and in 1926, the company produced its first waterproof watch for the British Navy.

In 1931 the company, which was by now one of the most successful watch companies in the world, registered its crown-shaped logo. The first watches to carry the Rolex name appeared in the 30s and 40s, and in the 50s the company began producing the Oyster watch, one of the most iconic watches in the world. In 1953 they produced the first GMT Master.

2. How to know if a Rolex is genuine

There are many ways to find out if a Rolex is genuine. But, unless you are a professional, you will probably not be able to spot a fake Rolex. One of the best ways to know if a Rolex is genuine is to check the serial number. If the serial number on the watch is engraved, and not printed, then it is usually genuine.

If you are buying a Rolex online, then you can ask the seller to send you the serial number to check the authenticity. If you have doubts about the authenticity of a watch, many websites tell you how to spot a fake watch. You can also contact someone who is an expert in the field to check the authenticity of the watch for you.

3. How to Identify a genuine Rolex

You would be surprised, but most people can’t tell whether a Rolex is genuine or fake. To spot a fake, you need to understand the history of the company. The earliest models didn’t have case-backs. This meant if you turned the watch over, the movement would be exposed.

To avoid this, Rolex used a case back. Later models didn’t have this. Instead, they added a hologram to the case back. A real watch will have a hologram. If you don’t see one, then it’s a fake.

4. How to identify a replica Rolex

It’s relatively easy to identify a cheap replica Rolex watch. The first thing you should look at is the clasp. The clasp should look sturdy and the graduations should be clean and neat. The loops of the clasp should be symmetrical and the edge of the clasp should be smooth.

The bezel should be heavy and should not be loose. If the bezel is loose, then it is a fake watch. The crown should be smooth and the vulcanized guard should be stamped 5 times on the watch body. The back of a genuine Rolex is transparent and the markings are laser-etched. The markings of a fake watch are usually printed.

In case there is no mention of the watch manufacturer on the dial or the watch is labeled as a “Geneva” movement, then it is a phony. Another easy way to identify a fake watch is to put it side by side with a real Rolex. You will notice a huge difference in the overall quality of the watch. How to identify a replica Rolex – Conclusion If the watch has any of these features, then it is probably a fake.

Conclusion:

Rolex watches have a rich history, and the brand has become synonymous with luxury. Rolexes are often the target of counterfeiters, so it’s important to know how to tell a genuine article from a fake. By understanding the key features of a genuine Rolex, it can be easy to identify a fake.
